Scottish Rugby will be holding a charity collection in aid of Siobhan’s Legacy of Love at the Scotland v Australia match on Sunday.

The charitable fund was set up to honour Siobhan Cattigan, the Stirling County back-row forward and Scotland Women cap number 204, who passed away three years ago. The initiative raises funds for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Some 20 collectors, clad in the charity’s distinctive purple T-shirts, will be present at Scottish Gas Murrayfield stadium and will welcome donations around the final match in Scotland’s Famous Grouse Nations Series against Australia.   The game kicks-off at 1.40pm and is set to attract a capacity crowd of 67,144.

Scotland and Glasgow Warriors scrum-halves, George Horne and Jamie Dobie, are calling on fans to dig deep to support the collection.

George said: “The memorial fund raises money for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. We really appreciate anything you can spare to honour Siobhan’s legacy.”

Jamie added: “We are thrilled . . .  that Scottish Rugby will hold a charity collection at the Scotland v Australia game on Sunday.”

Siobhan supported the charity for more than a decade.

Kirsten Watson, CEO of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We first met Siobhan as a teenager, aged 13, where her enthusiasm for fundraising and dedication to helping children was apparent for all to see as she raised vital funds in memory of her baby cousin Chloe.

“Siobhan’s generosity continued throughout her academic years and sporting career. We are honoured that her family and friends continue to fundraise, ensuring her legacy shines brightly.”

All funds raised at the stadium on Sunday will help children throughout Scotland affected by ill health, supporting their physical and emotional recovery through hippotherapy – combining Siobhan’s love of children and animals.

Glasgow Warriors, under their “Fighting for Families” project, are pledged to raise £85,000 for Glasgow’s Children’s Hospital Charity this season and will undertake a similar collection at their 1872 Cup match against Edinburgh Rugby at Hampden Park next month.
