Three Scottish officials to be involved in Guinness Women’s Six Nations

13 Feb 2024

Following Hollie Davidson making history at the weekend when she became the first Scottish female referee to be part of the officiating team in a Guinness Men's Six Nations match, she will take charge of two Guinness Women’s Six Nations matches.

After being part of the refereeing team at Twickenham on Saturday in the match between England and Wales as an Assistant Referee, Davidson will take charge of two games in the women’s championship: Ireland v Italy and Wales v France.

She will also be assistant referee for Ireland v Wales.

Fellow Scottish referees Chelsea Gillespie and Andrew McMenemy will also be involved in two matches each across the championship.

Chelsea and Andrew will join Hollie in supporting Sara Cox in the Ireland v Wales game.

Gillespie has been appointed assistant referee for Wales v Italy which will be played at the Principality Stadium. McMenemy will be TMO on the last weekend of the championship in the match between France and England.

Chelsea Gillespie has risen through the ranks, refereeing across all levels of the domestic game, and has been a well-known face across the Scottish Sevens circuit, officiating at the Melrose and Hawick Sevens.

In 2023, Gillespie was appointed to the middle of the dramatic encounter between Watsonians and Corstorphine Cougars in the Sarah Beaney Cup Final, a game which saw Watsonians clinch the title by just one point (26-25).

Most recently, she refereed in the Women’s Premiership Final clash between Watsonians FC and Stirling County.

Andrew McMenemy is vastly experienced in the game and has TMO’d in the Women’s Six Nations, Champions Cup and Challenge Cup previously.
