TEG Sport has today announced that Newcastle United will take on Everton in a high-profile pre-season fixture at Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh this August.

Kicking off at 5.15 pm on Wednesday 12 August, the fixture will bring Premier League football to the Scottish capital as two of English football’s most historic and passionately supported clubs continue their preparations for the 2026/27 season.

Pre-sale tickets will be available from Thursday 28 May to Newcastle United and Everton season ticket holders and members, before going on general sale from 10am  on Tuesday 2 June via Ticketmaster. Tickets start from £35 for adults and £17 for under-16s, plus booking fees.

Scotland Supporters Club Plus members will have the opportunity to buy tickets through a pre-sale, with details being emailed to current members shortly.

Hospitality packages, including exclusive Murrayfield Boxes, vibrant grazing street food and enhanced bar experiences, go on sale via The Murrayfield Experience from Thursday 28 May — with limited availability from launch.

Set in the heart of Edinburgh, Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium provides a fitting stage for a major summer fixture between two clubs with proud traditions, loyal travelling support and a competitive history.

With a capacity of 67,130 it is the largest stadium in Scotland and one of the UK’s most recognisable sporting venues. Opened in 1925, the stadium has staged generations of major rugby internationals, landmark sporting occasions, world-class live events and some of the biggest crowds in Scottish sporting history.

Last month, Scottish Gas Murrayfield hosted the highest attended women’s sporting event ever in Scotland with over 30,000 people watching Scotland Women play the World Champions, England, in the Guinness Women’s Six Nations.

This summer, the stadium will host three global music artists with Zach Bryan, Luke Combs and Bon Jovi all playing at the iconic venue.

The match on 12 August will offer both clubs an important test just days before the start of the 2026/27 campaign, giving supporters the chance to see their teams step up preparations, watch new squads take shape and enjoy a standout pre-season occasion in one of the UK’s great destination cities.

For travelling fans, the fixture creates the perfect opportunity to turn matchday into a full summer experience. With a 5.15pm kick-off, supporters can spend the day in Edinburgh, taking in the city’s historic streets, pubs, restaurants and cultural landmarks, including the world-famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which takes place the same month, before heading to Scottish Gas Murrayfield for the early-evening match.

Scottish Rugby’s Director of Stadium Development & Operations, Mark Laidlaw, said: “I am delighted to welcome Newcastle United and Everton to our stadium for the first time. This match adds to an already exciting summer of events at Scottish Gas Murrayfield. Taking place during The Edinburgh Festival, it will further add to the atmosphere across the city, and we hope it encourages even more visitors to experience everything Edinburgh has to offer during such a vibrant period.”

“As with all our events, we are looking forward to working closely with our key partners, including the City of Edinburgh Council, to help deliver a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.”

Newcastle United Head Coach, Eddie Howe, said: “An exciting test against Premier League opposition at a historic venue like Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium will play an important part in our pre-season preparations.

“I’m sure our fans will bring a special atmosphere to Edinburgh for a fantastic summer away day, giving the players a massive lift as we build towards the new campaign.”

Everton Manager, David Moyes, said: “Facing Newcastle United at Scottish Gas Murrayfield gives us a valuable opportunity to test ourselves against Premier League opposition as part of our preparations for the new season.

“Pre-season is an important period for the players and staff, and a fixture like this, in one of the biggest stadiums in the country, will help us continue building towards the start of the campaign.

“Everton has always had a strong connection with Scotland, and we know how well our supporters travel, not just from Merseyside but from across the country.

“Edinburgh is a fantastic city and this fixture gives Evertonians the chance to come together, enjoy the occasion and get behind the team in what should be a really good day for everyone connected with the Club.”

Football fans are strongly encouraged to register their interest now to receive the latest updates and gain priority access to tickets.
