Scotland U20 Standouts Look Back on Defining Moments at Hive Stadium

5 Feb 2026

Ahead of the 2026 U20 Six Nations getting underway on Friday night, hear from someone the recent standout players on their memories of some memorable nights at Hive Stadium.

Seb Stephen

Hooker Seb Stephen featured in all five matches of last year’s U20 Six Nations and repeated the feat at the 2025 World Rugby U20 Championship.

Since then, the Glasgow Warriors forward has continued his rise, making his mark in the senior squad — most recently with a standout performance in Friday night’s win over Munster.

“The home games can be impacted so much by how many supporters are there for the home nation. The win against Wales last year at the Hive was made so much better by how many supporters were there to celebrate it with us.

“The other memory I have is the U20 Trophy final against USA, and to win that in front of a big crowd was just so special. The two home games this year against England and France will be huge, and it would be great to see them both sold out.”

Jack Brown

Full-back Jack Brown was instrumental in Scotland U20’s victory over Wales in last year’s tournament, throwing the final pass to Nairn Moncrieff for his try before crossing the line himself.

Brown has since broken into the Edinburgh Rugby first team, featuring across the back three, and has earned call-ups to Emerging Scotland and Scotland A.

“The backing we had in our Six Nations games last year was class, especially the home games. When the crowd really got behind us, we could feel the momentum shift. It’s something I’ll never really forget.

“The win against Wales last year — that night it was honestly electric. The momentum and uplift we got from the crowd definitely got us across the line, and it really meant a lot to us.”

Jerry Blyth-Lafferty

Jerry Blyth-Lafferty also holds fond memories of playing at Hive Stadium, particularly the energy generated by the home support.

“I think that Hive Stadium has an incredible atmosphere, and a cool buzz around it on matchdays. As a forward, you can feel it when you’re defending your own line or mauling for the line in the corners.

“I’ve got some really special memories there — the U20 Trophy win obviously, but also the Six Nations game against France in 2024. We were a few tries down and the crowd stuck with us, helped us stay in the fight, and we got a couple of tries back. I’ve got no doubt their support helped us do that.”
