Watsonians secured a 32–17 victory, earning their fourth league win of the season and strengthening their position near the top of the table.
Both teams approached the match with attacking intent, looking to move the ball and create scoring opportunities. Biggar made effective use of the width of the pitch, while Watsonians took their chances well in a competitive contest that remained closely fought throughout the first half.
Watsonians opened the scoring through Dawn Laurie, before prop Hannah McMann added a second try to give the hosts a 10-point advantage. Biggar responded strongly, with Gemma Bell crossing the line twice to bring the visitors level. With both sides showing their attacking quality, the teams went into half-time tied at 10–10.
The second half saw Watsonians make the most of their opportunities and begin to establish control. Number eight Freya Walker scored an impressive try to put the hosts back in front, before captain Rachel Law extended their advantage with an elusive run through the Biggar defence.
Watsonians continued to apply pressure through their forward pack, helping the hosts maintain their momentum and limit Biggar’s opportunities. Full-back Ciron Bell then added a fifth try with a long-range effort, further extending Watsonians’ lead as they continued to take control of the match.
Biggar continued to look for opportunities in attack and were rewarded late in the match when Hannah Dunnett crossed for their third try. However, Watsonians held on to secure a convincing 32–17 win, taking another valuable step forward in their league campaign.
The result leaves Watsonians firmly in contention near the top of the Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership.

Friday night’s action saw Hillhead Jordanhill RFC strengthen their position at the top of the table with a 48–19 victory over visitors Cartha Queen’s Park RFC.
Corstorphine RFC also secured an important result, edging Garioch RFC 32–29 in a closely contested match. Despite recording a loss, Garioch travelled home having collected both a losing bonus point and a try bonus point. These additional points keep Garioch in mid-table contention as they look to build on their recent progress.
The fixture between Heriot’s Rugby Women and Stirling County RFC has been postponed and will now take place on 24 October.
Hillhead Jordanhill currently lead the Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership, with Watsonians close behind following their victory over Biggar. Stirling County remain firmly in the title conversation, with a game in hand offering them the opportunity to climb back to the top of the table when they face Heriot’s later this month.
Further down the standings, Garioch have moved into mid-table position alongside Biggar after a challenging start to the season. Although Biggar were unable to secure a win at Myreside, their attacking performance showed they remain competitive against the league’s stronger sides.
Cartha Queen’s Park and Corstorphine currently occupy the lower end of the table, but with plenty of rugby still to be played, there remains time for both teams to improve their positions. As the competition develops, every point could prove important in shaping the final standings.
