Scottish Qualified Gemma Bell began her rugby journey in 2010 at the age of 6-years-old. Gemma qualifies for Scotland through her mother, Gaynor, who was born in Edinburgh.
Through her career she has played with Tynedale RFC and Whitley Bay Barbarians.
Gemma transitioned from hooker to flanker at Hartpury University. With the University side she played a part in winning the BUCS Super Rugby Championship in 2022/23 and 2023/24.
In 2022, Gemma signed for Gloucester-Hartpury and featured in the Allianz Premiership Cup in 2022/2023 and 2023/2024.
In the 2023/24 season, Gemma was drafted as a transitional player for Edinburgh Rugby in the Celtic Challenge and made four appearances for the capital side. In the 2024/25 season Gemma was selected for the Glasgow Warriors and was a standout player for the side.
She earned her first call up to the Scotland Women’s squad during the 2025 Guinness Women’s Six Nations. She made her debut from the bench against England in round four of the competition.
