Southern Knights confirm coaching group ahead of FOSROC Super Series Sprint
The Southern Knights have today confirmed their coaching group ahead of the FOSROC Super Series Sprint starting next month.
The coaching group of Scott Wight, Iain Chisholm and James Head will be overseen by Head of Rugby, Rob Moffat
Former Scotland 7s Captain and Scotland Club XV Head Coach, Scott Wight continues in his role as attack coach of the team. Wight is looking to build on the success of the Southern Knights attack from last year’s Championship competition, with a number of key players returning to the squad.
Current Melrose Head Coach and South of Scotland Assistant Coach, Iain Chisholm will transition into the role of Southern Knights defence coach following the conclusion of the National 1 season and Inter District Championship. Chisholm has started working with the squad on Monday evenings as the Southern Knights prepare to kick-off their Sprint campaign on Friday 19 April when Edinburgh A travel to The Greenyards.
Former Southern Knights and Melrose player James Head returns to The Greenyards as forwards coach. Building on his recent experience of coaching premiership side Selkirk, Head’s role will have a strong focus on the Southern Knights set piece.
Commenting on preparation for the upcoming FOSROC Super Series Sprint, Rob Moffat said: “There has been a real air of excitement amongst both the coaching and playing group. We are delighted to have three really enthusiastic coaches, who have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure the squad can hit the ground running when the Sprint comes round in April”.
The Southern Knights would also like to thank departing Head Coach Alan Tait and forwards coach Lewis Carmichael for their commitment to the team over the last few seasons, as they both move on from the Greenyards.
