Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership feature match: Accies v Kelso
This weekend could be season defining for both Edinburgh Academical and Kelso as the sides do battle at Raeburn Place.
Just two points separate the sides, who sit ninth (Kelso) and tenth (Accies) on the Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership ladder. A win for either side could spell disaster – and relegation – for the other.
A losing bonus point was all the Accies took away from Glasgow Hawks last round, while Kelso snagged a crucial win over fellow Borderers Melrose.
With just five rounds remaining, every point is just as crucial for the top sides as it is for the bottom sides.
Five things to watch out for this weekend:
- Friday night’s match sees Currie take on Musselburgh. The home side fell out of the top four for the first time this year and will be desperate to hit straight back with a win against a struggling Musselburgh side.
- Saturday sees second versus fourth as Heriot’s host high-flying Selkirk. The visitors are on a five-match unbeaten streak. You have to go back to October to see Heriot’s last loss though – don’t miss this match as two of the most in-form sides in the competition play.
- Off the back of last week’s thrashing at the hands of West Coast rivals Ayr, Marr look to bounce back against an in-from Watsonians side, who are third on the ladder.
- Pushing for a comfortable mid-table finish are ladder neighbours Hawick and Glasgow Hawks. Both sides sit a couple of results shy of the relegation zone and will be desperate to keep it that way at Mansfield Park.
- Melrose hosts league leaders Ayr at the Greenyards. The home side’s past three results have been close, but they haven’t walked away with a win in any. They’ll need to be clinical if they are to take anything away from the men in black and pink this weekend.
