Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership feature match: Watsonians v Selkirk
A crunch match at the top of the Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership table awaits as Watsonian FC hosts Selkirk RFC.
Watsonians can cement their berth in the semi-finals with a win of any kind over fifth-placed Selkirk, who have been red hot in recent weeks.
On the other hand, Selkirk can keep the pressure on Currie Chieftains, who currently occupy the fourth and final semi-final berth.
With just two or three rounds remaining for most in the league after this weekend, every point matters at the top and the bottom of the ladder.
Five things to watch out for this weekend:
- Currie have Selkirk breathing down their neck this weekend as the Chieftains take on Glasgow Hawks. The Glasgow side are desperate to keep their distance from the relegation zone teams.
- Edinburgh Academical host Melrose in a potential do or die for Accies. Lose this weekend, if the Hawks gain maximum points, it will spell the end of the road for Accies and the drop into National 1 next season.
- Ayr look to extend their eight-game unbeaten streak as they travel to mid-table Hawick on Saturday. In the reverse fixture at Millbrae, Ayr ran out 59 – 7 victors.
- Heriot’s have already secured a semi-final berth, but will look to keep the pressure on league leaders Ayr as they take on Kelso at home.
- While Musselburgh’s season cannot be saved, visitors Marr can still revive theirs if they win at Stoneyhill on Saturday. It would be a miraculous turnaround, but it is still mathematically possible.
