Arnold Clark Premiership feature match: Watsonians v Stirling County
Third takes on second in the Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership tomorrow as Watsonian FC, third, host 2022/23 competition winners Stirling County, currently second on the ladder.
Just four points separate the two sides after seven matches, and the hosts will be out to balance the scales after their last meeting with Stirling in round two, in which County took all five points from in a 40-15 drubbing.
Both teams recorded important wins in the previous round, over Heriot’s and Cartha Queens Park, and will be looking at this fixture as a chance to assert themselves into the second spot on the ladder, behind a so-far perfect Corstorphine team.
Five things to watch out for this weekend:
- First plays fourth in the Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership as the so-far perfect Ayr side host high-flying Melrose.
- At the other end of the table, Edinburgh Accies travel south to Kelso in a 9th versus 11th matchup, which could prove costly at the end of the season.
- In the Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership, Garioch take on Stewartry – with just two wins between the sides so far, this game could be indicative of where the sides will end up at the conclusion of this season.
- Heriot’s head to Hillhead Jordanhill in a 4th plays 5th matchup. Last time the two played, on BBC ALBA, Hillhead ran out 79-5 victors and will be looking to repeat that result tomorrow.
- Just one point separates Glasgow Hawks from Hawick after seven rounds. Hawks sit seventh after a 25-12 win over Accies in the previous round, while Hawick snuck a 27-22 victory over Selkirk last Saturday.
