Arnold Clark Premierships feature match: Garioch v Cartha Queens Park
Garioch RFC have their best chance yet to record their maiden victory of the Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership when they host Cartha Queens Park in Inverurie tomorrow.
Rooted to the bottom rung of the ladder, Garioch are six points adrift from Cartha, and will view this match as a golden chance to lift themselves up and heap pressure on relegation playoff rivals Cartha.
Garioch lost 57-22 to a rampant Hillhead Jordanhill in the first round of the second stage – Hillhead being the unlucky side between them and Heriot’s to fall into the bottom four on the final day of stage one.
Cartha, meanwhile, gained two losing bonus points as Biggar triumphed 51-48 in their match last weekend.
It’s a potential view into the future for who will feature in the end of season relegation-promotion playoffs, where the lowest finisher in the regular season takes on the three winners of the regional leagues in a round robin format.
The winner of that round robin locks themselves in for the Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership for season 2026/27.
The Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership is now on a break until Saturday 22 November, due to the Quilter Nations Series matches taking place on November 1, 8, 16 and 23.
Things to watch out for this weekend:
- Corstorphine and Watsonians play tomorrow in what could be a spot in the final for the winners, if Stirling County’s brilliant form continues.
- Heriot’s have the heady task of hosting the runaway league leaders, Stirling, at Goldenacre tomorrow.
- Hillhead Jordanhill take on this season’s surprise package, Biggar. The newly promoted team have shown they can mix it with the best and will see tomorrow’s match as a real chance to show their mettle.
