Caledonia U16 and Edinburgh U16 were the winners in the U16 FOSROC Regional Festival fixtures at Oriam yesterday, coming out on top against Glasgow & the West U16 and Borders & East Lothian U16 respectively.
The first game of the day saw Caledonia run out 43-22 winners against Borders & East Lothian.
Tries from Brodie Cunningham (2), Kieran Classen, Oliver Kelly, Matthew Herbert (2) and Josh Alexander were enough to secure the win for Caledonia.
Borders & East Lothian responded with tries from Aidan Smith, Archie Smellie, Harry Miller and Jaxson Douglas.
Then Edinburgh were 48-40 winners against Glasgow & the West to round off the day’s action.
Cameron Baird (2), Leo Munro (2), Oliver Richardson, Luca Anderson (2) and Struan Wood were the try scorers for Edinburgh.
For Glasgow & the West, Adam Given, Charlie Burns, Hamish Cornell (2) and Zak Burgess (2) were the scorers.
The regional rugby continues this weekend as two teams from each region head to Gala.
Head of Pathways John Fletcher said: “It was great to see two great games with all of the regions really going for it on both sides of the ball.
“We were really happy to see a lot of what the coaches have been working on with the players coming to life on the pitch.
“Next week in Gala provides an opportunity for more players to represent their region, which is great as we look to expose more players to that level of rugby.”
