2023 FOSROC Super Series Sprint fixtures announced

7 Mar 2023

The FOSROC Super Series Sprint will start on the weekend of Friday 7 April. All six teams will play each other once in a traditional league format, as well as playing either Glasgow Warriors A or Edinburgh Rugby A.

The professional A sides will play three fixtures at the start of the FOSROC Super Series Sprint. Edinburgh Rugby A will play against Heriot’s Rugby, Southern Knights and Watsonians Rugby whilst Glasgow Warriors A will play against Ayrshire Bulls, Boroughmuir Bears and Stirling Wolves.

After playing in the first three rounds of the competition the professional A teams step down to allow the pro-teams to continue to prioritise the business end of their season and provide opportunity to their players who have had high-level game time and are match-ready if required.

The first three rounds will have two games played simultaneously on Friday nights, with two games played back-to-back on Saturdays.

After the professional A teams step down, the format will see just one game on Friday nights with the same Saturday schedule.

The competition starts with Ayrshire Bulls hosting Glasgow Warriors A at Millbrae and Stirling Wolves welcoming Boroughmuir Bears to Bridgehaugh on Friday 7 April. Watsonians Rugby take on Southern Knights and Heriot’s Rugby play host to Edinburgh Rugby A to complete the opening weekend on Saturday 8 April.

Having struggled early on in last year’s Sprint, Southern Knights got their first win at home to Heriot’s Rugby, and will this time travel to Goldenacre in Round 2 on Saturday 15 April.

Round 4 includes the top two from the 2022 Sprint going head-to-head as Stirling Wolves host Watsonians Rugby on Friday 28 April.

Round six will feature a repeat of last year’s Championship final, as runners-up Ayrshire Bulls host current Sprint and Championship champions Watsonians Rugby.

The play-offs will take place the following weekend, with 1st v 2nd on Friday 26 May, and 5th v 6th followed by 3rd v 4th on Saturday 27 May.

Broadcast details for the FOSROC Super Series Sprint will be announced ahead of the competition kicking off next month.
