Scottish Rugby is proud to announce this year’s Papa Johns Tartan Touch hubs, of which there are 73 across the country. Eleven of these have been newly created this season.

The partnership between Scottish Rugby and Papa Johns has existed since February 2022, and the programme has been known as Papa Johns Tartan Touch since.

Running annually between May and July, Tartan Touch is designed to provide a simplified version of rugby with the aim of attracting players of all abilities, ages and levels of experience who are looking to improve their fitness through simple and social activity.

“The 2024 Papa Johns Tartan Touch programme has seen a year of great progress, with a record number of hubs signing up across the length and breadth of Scotland,” Papa Johns UK Marketing Director Rebecca Carroll said.

“With 11 new hubs signing up for the first time, more players of all abilities, ages, and experience can improve their fitness through social activity. Hubs are encouraged to run from May, meaning players can soak up the Scottish sun and engage with their local rugby communities across the summer,” she said.

Scottish Rugby Regional Director for Caledonia Midlands Chris Pacey echoed the sentiment, saying it’s pleasing to see another increase in hubs.

“It’s really encouraging to see we will be able to extend the reach of the programme and be able to offer this format of the game to more communities across the country this year,” he said.

“Tartan Touch continues to be a fantastic programme that clubs utilise to connect with their local communities and provides the opportunity to people from all ages, abilities and backgrounds to participate. It also allows participants to enjoy the physical and mental benefits of playing rugby at their local community club during the summer months.”

No matter where you live, there is a Papa Johns Tartan Touch hub nearby. The new hubs popping up this year are:

Aberdeen Grammar Rugby, Dyce Rugby Club, Moray UHI – Moray RFC, and Nairn RFC (Caledonia North); Livingston RFC, Melrose Rugby Club, and Ross High RFC (East); Dalziel Rugby Club and Lanark Rugby Club (Glasgow North); and Dumfries Saints RFC (Glasgow South).

And the overall spread of the 73 hubs are as follows:

Caledonia North – 12
Caledonia Midlands – 17
East – 20
Glasgow North – 17
Glasgow South – 7
