Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership feature match: Heriot’s v Watsonians

12 Sep 2025

It’s been two very different tales for Edinburgh rivals Watsonian FC and Heriot’s so far this Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership season.

Hosts Heriot’s are yet to win a match from their three encounters, picking up a solitary losing bonus point against Currie Chieftains in the previous round.

They sit rock bottom, while Watsonians picked up maximum points against Kelso and Selkirk, and a further win against Glasgow Hawks sees the visitors second and just a point behind reigning champions Ayr.

It’s an early season test for the rivals. In the previous season, the honours were shared evenly with a win to each side.

Five things to watch out for this weekend:

  • With Hillhead Jordanhill, Heriot’s and Watsonians all tied for points in the Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership, this round gives the chance for the sides to separate themselves from the chasing pack and secure a spot in the top four.
  • Leaders Stirling County host surprise package Heriot’s at Bridgehaugh on Saturday as both sides look to push on for the top four spots before the league splits.
  • Hawks go looking for their maiden win of the season as Hawick pay a visit on Saturday afternoon. They came close against Watsonians and will look to build on that momentum.
  • A tasty Borders derby awaits Melrose as they travel to Kelso. Both sides lost in the previous round and will be urging their teammates on to get one over on their close rivals.
  • It’s first versus third as Ayr host Currie. Both sides have won three from three thus far and Currie will be desperate to hand Ayr just their second loss in nearly a year.
