Sitting sixth, Melrose have the advantage over their eighth placed opponents. The yellow and black sit equal on points with fellow Borderers, Selkirk, and are the main chasing pack to Currie Chieftains, just six points ahead in fourth.

The tightness of the table means that failing to win on Saturday for the Hawks on the other hand, means a potential drop down the table to the relegation zone. Tenth placed Kelso are just three points behind.

Five things to watch out for this weekend:

  • The aforementioned Selkirk travel to Edinburgh Accies. Accies will look to continue the form which saw them topple Musselburgh in the previous round and force a move further out of the relegation zone.
  • Heriot’s host Watsonians in a crunch match at the top of the ladder. The reverse fixture saw Watsonians win 29-21 live on BBC ALBA, handing Heriot’s their sole loss of the season so far.
  • Currie Chieftains have a chance to further stamp their authority on the fourth semi-final spot with a trip to Marr. Currie’s incredible turn in fortunes continues after their one win and four losses in the opening five rounds.
  • Kelso are in red hot form as they prepare to visit top of the ladder Ayr. Three wins and a close loss in their last four matches sets them up perfectly to tackle the giants in pink.
  • Hawick nearly toppled second-placed Watsonians in the previous round and will look to carry that momentum into tomorrow’s match against Musselburgh. The visitors showed glimpses of a revival against Accies last week, but it wasn’t enough to claim any points.
