Arnold Clark Premiership feature match: Corstorphine v Garioch

11 Oct 2024

Corstorphine Cougars host Garioch RFC in this weekend’s feature match in the Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership.

STIRLING, SCOTLAND - AUGUST 09: Samantha Ross of Garioch and Emma Turner of Corstorphine Cougars during an Arnold Clark Premiership launch day at Stirling Rugby Club, on August 09, 2024, in Stirling, Scotland.

Cougars sit atop the table with a perfect seven wins from as many rounds, securing a bonus point in each of those matches. While Garioch have won two from their seven and sit in sixth place.

Cougars are coming off the back of a thrilling 39-38 win over Watsonian FC last weekend in a real ding-dong battle. The home side will be looking to take this opportunity to return to form in securing all five points while not allowing the visitors to gain anything from the match.

Five things to watch out for this weekend:

  • Marr host high-flying local rivals Ayr – the home side will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s 41-point loss to Currie Chieftains.
  • It’s the start of the second round of the Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership, where Stirling County host Heriot’s. On opening weekend, Stirling won the match 79-0.
  • This season’s surprise package Selkirk take on Hawick. Both sides are coming off the back of strong wins in round six against Musselburgh (Hawick) and Edinburgh Accies (Selkirk).
  • A Borders derby awaits Kelso as they travel 14 miles down the road to Melrose. Melrose (5th) will fancy their chances against a lower-ranked Kelso (11th) side.
  • Just two points separate Edinburgh Accies and Glasgow Hawks this weekend as the Glasgow side travel to Comely Bank. A win for the Hawks would put them above Accies.
