Arnold Clark Premiership: Preview and Feature Match – Kelso v Selkirk

13 Sep 2024

The feature match in this weekend’s Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership is a borders derby between Kelso and Selkirk at Poynder Park.

EDINBURGH , SCOTLAND - AUGUST 16: Ayr’s Blair MacPherson, Currie Chieftains’ Charlie Brett, Edinburgh Accies’ Jamie Loomes, Glasgow Hawks’ Paul Cairncross, Hawick’s Shawn Muir, Heriot's’ Ruaridh Leishman, Kelso’s Keith Melbourne, Marr’s Colin Sturgeon, Melrose’s Donald Crawford, Musselburgh’s Robert Stott, Selkirk’s Andrew McColm and Watsonian FC’s Craig Davidson during the launch of the 2024/2025 Arnold Clark Premership season at Currie Chieftains RFC, on August 16, 2024, in Edinburgh, Scotland. Both sides won their opening home fixtures, with tomorrow’s hosts edging Watsonians in week one before going down by four points to Musselburgh last weekend.

Similarly, Selkirk won their home tie with Glasgow Hawks last time out, a 41-10 victory practically reversing their 40-10 loss away at Marr in the season curtain-raiser.

Both Kelso and Selkirk competed in last year’s top flight with the Poynder men reaching the play-offs, losing to eventual runners-up Hawick in the penultimate round.

Four things to watch out for this weekend:

  • Heriot’s are the early pace setters in the Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership, having beaten Melrose and Edinburgh Accies in their opening two fixtures, with a maximum of 10 points gained.
  • Currie Chieftains, last year’s champions, are seeking a first win of the campaign when they make the short trip to Raeburn Place to face Edinburgh Accies.
  • In the Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership, Corstorphine will seek to extend their impressive, unbeaten start to the season when they travel to face Stirling County, who are also protecting a 100% record.
  • Watsonians and Garioch meet in Edinburgh with the sides sitting third and fourth respectively after three match rounds.
