Gregor Townsend to headline summer Pro Coach Masterclass series

This summer’s Pro Coach Masterclasses will take place across August and September as part of Scottish Rugby’s wider coach development programme, alongside a range of other workshops.

Among the sessions, Scotland Head Coach Gregor Townsend will deliver a Pro Coach Masterclass at Orkney RFC on Wednesday 2 September, while Scotland Assistant Coach John Dalziel will lead a session at Melrose RFC on the same day.

Elsewhere, Edinburgh Rugby Assistant Coach Stevie Lawrie will host a masterclass at Scottish Gas Murrayfield on Friday 14 August, while Glasgow Warriors Assistant Coach Roddy Grant will be at Ravenscraig on Monday 10 August.

Covering the length and breadth of the country, there will also be sessions taking place at Highland RFC hosted by Scotland Assistant Coach Pete Horne and at Stirling County RFC with Pieter de Villiers.

Designed to support coaches working across the community game, the Pro Coach Masterclasses will give attendees the chance to hear directly from coaches at the top of the professional game and explore different ways of developing players and structuring sessions.

Alongside the masterclasses, coaches will also be able to sign up for Tackle and Contact Confidence and Session Design workshops running across the country over the summer months.

Whether coaches are looking to build confidence around introducing tackle and contact skills, improve the way they design and deliver sessions, or hear from some of the top coaches in the game, the summer programme offers a range of opportunities ahead of the new season.
