The competition, which was first established in 1953, was initially contested annually in the amateur era by Edinburgh, Glasgow, the South, the North and Midlands and, latterly, the Scottish Exiles.

In the revived format, four men’s teams from across the country – Caledonia, Edinburgh, Glasgow and the West, and The South, will compete in three round robin fixtures. True to the original format, this season’s competition will see each of the four teams play one another only once, either home or away.

This season’s edition sees Caledonia Reds host Glasgow and the West at Bridgehaugh in Stirling on opening weekend, while Edinburgh travel to Hawick to play The South at Mansfield Park.

The South are the current champions, having won the 2023/24 edition, with three wins from as their three fixtures – including a three-point 27-24 win over Edinburgh.

Subject to eligibility criteria, players have been selected from the Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership and National Leagues.

For all fixtures and ticketing information, please contact the individual districts in the first instance. The third-round South v Caledonia match will be played at Riverside Park, Jedburgh. Pricing is £10, £5 for concessions, which is payable at the gate.
