New Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership trophy on the line for Saturday’s final

Scottish Rugby has today unveiled the new Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership trophy ahead of Saturday’s grand final clash between Ayr and Watsonians at Millbrae.
The new trophy, standing 54cm tall and 30cm wide, reflects both the past and the future of the club game, and shows the important place the Premiership has in Scotland’s rugby pyramid.
The winners of the previous half century are engraved on the first of two bases, with room left for years and decades of winners yet to come. The first of those new names will be either Ayr or Watsonians following Saturday’s final.
After 51 years of service, the trophy which was contested up until the 2023/24 season finale between Hawick and Currie Chieftains has now been retired and will reside in Scottish Rugby’s museum.
Scottish Rugby’s Head of Competitions and Compliance, Vicky Cox said:
“The previous trophy had certainly served its tenure and was enjoyed by its many winners over the years. It’s the right time now to retire it and bring in the new trophy, which we hope will add to the history of the Premiership for years to come.
“This trophy reflects where club rugby has come from and where we see it going. We took inspiration from the previous trophy in its shape and design but have added elements such as the new handle design, the two bases and the lid.”
By comparison, the current iteration of the Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership trophy is relatively new, having only been contested for the past three seasons.
The Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership final will be shown live on BBC ALBA and BBC iPlayer, with coverage starting from 4:10pm on Saturday 26 April. The match will kick-off at 4:30 in Millbrae.
Viewers outside of the UK can also watch the match live via the Scottish Rugby YouTube channel.
