Nominations open for Spirit of Rugby national award
29 Mar 2024Scottish Rugby has today confirmed that applications are now live for the Spirit of Rugby category in the annual national awards ceremony for the 2023/24 season.
The 2023 Spirit of Rugby Award winners - Julie Coutts, Brian and Senga Johnston. The Scottish Rugby Community Recognition Awards programme is split into two sections: regional (East, Caledonia Midlands, Caledonia North, Glasgow North, Glasgow South) and national.
After the recent announcement of the regional awards winners this month, the national awards programme aims to recognise outstanding contributions from players, coaches and those who have contributed to the wider domestic game, both on and off the pitch.
Scottish Rugby’s Spirit of Rugby award celebrates individuals or groups from within the Scottish rugby community who demonstrate in all their endeavours the values of the sport.
Scottish Rugby East Regional Director David Drummond said the announcement of the Spirit of Rugby winners was the highlight of the 2023 Community Recognition awards, and he looked forward to this year’s instalment.
“It really is one of those special nights where it’s the end of the season and we have a chance to reflect on the season that was. And what better way to do that than by recognising some of the truly amazing people in our rugby community,” he said.
Information, criteria and submission forms can be found below. The deadline for Spirit of Rugby submissions is 12pm on Friday 19 April.

In addition to these awards, the winners of the 2024 Community Recognition Awards have been shortlisted and are in contention to win the overall National award of that category.

- Women’s National Leagues Player of the Season
- Men’s National Leagues Player of the Season
- Women’s Regional Leagues Player of the Season
- Men’s National Leagues Player of the Season
- National Leagues Match Official of the Season
