Scottish Rugby backs UK Anti-Doping Clean Sport Week

Scottish Rugby is once again supporting Clean Sport Week.
Clean Sport Week, which this year is running from 11 to 17 May, is UK Anti-Doping’s (UKAD) an annual campaign that brings together sporting organisations, athletes, coaches and communities across the country to celebrate fair play and champion drug-free sport.
This year’s theme – Built not bought. 100% me – is a message that aims to resonate with athletes by highlighting that output on the pitch should reflect their respective hard work, talent and dedication.
Education plays an important role in the work done during Clean Sport Week, as it provides an opportunity to remind athletes and support personal around their responsibilities in protecting themselves, their sport as well as being role models for the next generation.
Scotland winger Rhona Lloyd said: “Everyone in our Scotland Women environment works hard in training and pushes each other to improve every day, so Clean Sport Week is really important to us as players.
“We want to know that when we step onto the pitch, everyone has had a fair opportunity to compete and that success comes from hard work, preparation and commitment.
“As athletes, it’s important we educate ourselves on things like supplements and medications so we can make the right choices and help protect the integrity of the game.”
Head of Medical Operations Richard Wood added: “We are once again delighted to support Clean Sport Week and reinforce our commitment to clean, fair, and ethical sport.
“It is important that any success achieved by our players and teams is earned through hard work, dedication, and collective effort, both individually and as a team, while upholding the values of clean sport.”
