Poppy Clarkson became involved in rugby at Strathaven RFC and Strathaven Academy in 2020.
After taking quickly to the sport, the young prop was also involved in the 2022/23 season Girls Regional Game Series
In the same year, Poppy joined Biggar RFC, initially playing at U18 level in the inspiresport League. She has stayed with the South Lanarkshire side for her senior rugby, playing in West Division 1.
In 2024, Poppy was part of the winning Biggar side in the Women’s National Shield competition.
