Hector Patterson first picked up a rugby ball at Jed-Forest RFC.
He played all of his youth rugby for Jed Thistle, before moving to Hawick RFC where he was part of the team that won the 2022/23 Premiership title.
In 2023, Hector was named as one of the fifteen FOSROC Scottish Rugby academy players aligned with Edinburgh Rugby. He also played for FOSROC Super Series side Watsonians during the 2023 Sprint.
He has previously played for Scotland U18, and was part of the 2024 World Rugby U20 Trophy-winning Scotland U20 squad.
