Braidholm to host Inter-district Championship Finals Day

Braidholm to host Inter-district Championship Finals Day

It has today been announced that GHA’s Braidholm will host the Inter-district Championship Finals Day on Sunday 21 May.

The event will see the Glasgow based club open its doors to spectators for two matches, the Final between the two top sides from round one, along with a third/fourth place play-off.

The grounds, which can hold 3,500 spectators with an additional 200 in its clubhouse, was selected as the host following an application process which was approved by a working group of the Club Rugby Board (CRB).

Kick-off times for the two fixtures will be at 12.30pm and 3pm. General ticketing and hospitality ticketing will be available for purchase on Friday 28 April directly from GHA’s dedicated ticketing website: https://www.citizenticket.com/events/gha-rugby-club/inter-district-championship-finals-day/

The club’s hospitality package, priced at £50pp, will see VIPs welcomed to enjoy lunch with guest speakers and entertainment in the Braidholm suite, half-time refreshments and all-day access to the suite and bar.

On the announcement, Gordon Adams, Vice-President of GHA said: “GHA is delighted to have been chosen to host the Inter-district Championship Finals Day, and we thank the Committee for granting us the opportunity.

“Finals Day will allow us to invite and welcome the wider Scottish rugby public to our home, where the Districts and the local community can celebrate the rebirth of the Championship and the best club rugby has to offer.

“It’s a day we’re very much looking forward to and it is the ideal way to round off this year’s club season. We are looking forward to working alongside Scottish Rugby on the delivery of the event.

“Personally, I know the amount of work that’s gone on to re-establish the Championship. As a club, we have supported the reintroduction of the Championship and we relish the opportunity to showcase the best talent in the Scottish club game at Braidholm.

“The competition itself is a great incentive for amateur players to gain representative honours following their efforts for their clubs while ascending to the summit of the club game.”

Keith Wallace, Scottish Rugby Vice-President and Chairman of the CRB said: “I am thrilled to confirm Braidholm has the host venue for the return of the Inter-District Championship Finals Day in May.

“GHA are well known for their welcoming grounds, which I have no doubt will be packed out with spectators on the day, celebrating the best that the club game has to offer. I can’t think of a better way for Scottish rugby to round off the domestic season.”

The tournament, which kicks off with round one on Tuesday 9 May, aims to recognise players who have consistently performed with distinction for their club and provide them with an opportunity to represent their district; provide an avenue for clubs to work in collaboration, strengthen relationships, and celebrate rugby in the region; offer selected players and coaches a development opportunity through a higher standard of competition and; provide a future selection vehicle for the Scotland Club XV International representative.
