Back-row Matt Fagerson become the 1096th player to represent Scotland when he started the national team's 30-29 defeat to USA in Houston, Texas on the 2018 summer tour. He is Scotland's youngest ever number 8 to date (at 19y 335d).
He is the second Scotland forward to be capped as a teenager in 67 years (Jonny Gray the other in 2013). Matt is younger brother of Scotland internationalist Zander; they became the 48th brothers to play for Scotland and the 22nd pair to play together in that 2018 Test against USA. Previously, Fagerson represented Scotland under-20s in the 2017 World Rugby under-20s Championship in Georgia, helping the team finish fifth, and made his Glasgow Warriors debut in the 2016/17 pre-season fixture vs Canada ‘A’, scoring a try in the process.
In the dark blue jersey, Fagerson has gone on to feature heavily for Scotland, his consistency of performance earning him almost 30 caps already and he added first international try came in the second 2022 Summer Test against Argentina in Salta.
