Alex Stewart

Alex Stewart first picked up a rugby ball at primary school before then playing through her local secondary school, Liberton High School, where rugby caught her interest during active schools rugby sessions and PE classes.

Joining the school team partnered with Lismore RFC, she continued her rugby journey, participating in the Aspiring Performance Programme (APP), attaining qualifications at Level 5.

In 2022, as part of Edinburgh Harlequins U18, Alex reached the National Youth Cup Final at Murrayfield, captaining the capital side.

Later that year, Alex went on to also play in the first U18 Six Nations Festival in Edinburgh and represented Scotland U18s Sevens in the Rugby Europe competition in Prague.

In 2023, Alex played for club side Corstorphine Cougars in the Sarah Beaney Cup final at Murrayfield, before later that summer playing for the Scotland Futures team on tour in Italy.

In 2024, Alex was named as vice-captain for Edinburgh Rugby in the club’s first Celtic Challenge team. Her performances earned her first Scotland Women call up as Bryan Easson named her in the 34-player extended squad for the 2024 Guinness Six Nations.

Alex earned her first cap on Saturday 23 March at Cardiff Arms Park in Scotland’s historic victory over Wales, with Scotland claiming an 18-20 win.
