Emma Orr first started playing rugby while she was in Primary Four at Walston Primary School.
After a brief hiatus, she reignited her passion for the sport by joining Biggar’s U15 side, and within a few months she was leading her team to victory in the U15 Girls’ Youth Cup at Murrayfield Stadium in 2017.
Emma’s impressive performances at the club level did not go unnoticed. She was selected for the Scotland Women U18 7s squad, marking the beginning of her international career. In 2021, she made her Senior Sevens debut during the Rugby Europe Sevens Championship series in Lisbon.
In 2022, Emma’s burgeoning talent earned her a spot in the Scotland Women squad for the TikTok Women’s Six Nations. She made her senior international debut on April 2 2022 against Wales. Since then, Emma has represented Scotland at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, Commonwealth Games and both iterations of the WXV2 competition.
In her club life, Orr has played with Biggar, Heriot’s Blues and has also featured for the Thistles and Edinburgh Rugby in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons of the Celtic Challenge. Ahead of the 2024/25 season, Emma signed with the Premier Women’s Rugby (PWR) side, Bristol Bears, signaling a significant step forward in her professional career.
Balancing her athletic pursuits with academic endeavors, Emma recently graduated from the Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) after completing a degree in agricultural studies.
